A fun, versatile hat with a couple of simple variations on the basic pattern that lead to a completely different style. Sculptural pleats can be worn at the side for a cute vintage style cloche with a girly lace edge. Shown at the back of the slouchier version they help all of that extra fabric drape perfectly, the casual slouchiness and neat garter stitch band result in a more modern, unisex look. Of course if you happen to want a slouchy hat with a lace edging you can combine the different elements however you like.

Less slouchy version - 72[80, 88, 96]yds / 66[73, 81, 88]m; slouchy version - 96[108, 118, 130]yds / 89[98, 108, 118]m heavy worsted / aran weight yarn. Shown in Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes (50% alpaca / 50% merino, 100yds / 91m, 3.53oz /100g) in charcoal and light blue.

Needles and notions

US 10 / 6mm 16” / 40cm circular and dpns or long circular(s) for preferred method of working small circumferences in the rnd; 1 dpn in a smaller size.

Stitch markers, scrap yarn.

Gauge

14 sts and 22 rnds = 4˝ / 10cm in st st.

Sizes

xs[s, m, l] to fit head circumference of 18[20, 22, 24]˝ / 46[51, 56, 61]cm.
